Commission FAQs

What is the commission process?

Once you contact me to request a commission consultation, I will respond within 24 hours and contact you to confirm your interest. We can discuss who you would like in your portrait (I can commission from multiple photos), the photo quality I will require to create the portrait and estimated timescales for completion. Once the deposit has been paid, I will update you daily (if you wish) to give you progress on the commission. Once the portrait is completed, I will contact you to collect the remainder of the payment and to arrange delivery

Can you make changes after it is finished?

It depends on how far along the portrait is in terms of completion. I typically will let you know when the portrait is around 50% complete and ask if you would like anything changing, which I offer free up to the halfway point. Any time after this point, edits to the portrait are charged extra

How long will it take to complete?

This all depends on the size, number of subjects in the portrait and the level of detail quality you are expecting. A small, A4 sized “head & shoulder” portrait of one person typically takes between 15 - 20 hours

Do you work from a photo or do I have to sit for hours?

Yes, I work solely from photos as it is much easier on both the subject and myself to work from. The photo reference typically needs to be clear and unblurred but I can assist in choosing the ideal photo for reference prior to starting the commission.
